Embracing the Art

As literary periods transition from the formal Elizabethan to the righteous Victorian and the creative Post-modernism, poets have been showcasing their creativity in both visual and lyrical aspects. As an avid writer who seeks to challenge the status quo, it is especially meaningful to revisit the original lyrical and rhythmic beauty of poetry. While free verse poetry may evoke a conversational tone that enhances realism and immersion, I seek not to claim these advantages for my poems. Rather, I feel it best that my poems retain a roughly consistent meter and verses with unified rhymes, which retrospective touch can induce a contrasting effect of drawing readers' attention not to uniqueness or relatability but to a critical reflection of their own experiences through the poems' raw emotions. I do not prefer largely detaching myself from modern art forms, however; I shall keep my connection by involving modern music in my works. Most pieces are created as lyrics in tandem with a song that blends into a similar mood, which makes them unique with streaks of both retrospection and modernism.
